About us

The Active Travel Coalition is an alliance of health, medical, environmental and cycling campaigners aimed at enabling families to make the switch from the car to active travel modes

We share the goal of enabling people of all ages to switch to active travel and reap the health benefits of walking and cycling for everyday trips.

Convened by Cyclist.ie the Irish Cycling Advocacy Network, the Coalition is supported by such organisations as the Irish Heart Foundation, the Irish College of General Practitioners, the Irish Pedestrian Network, Irish Doctors for the Environment, the HSE’s Strategy and Research Office, the Association for Health Promotion Ireland and Friends of the Earth.

Cyclist.ie is a member of I-PARC, the Physical Activity Research Collaboration, and of the Climate and Health Alliance.

The Active Travel Coalition is entirely independent, voluntary and non-profit. We have no commercial or other connection with governmental, political or commercial entities.
